| It's not released in the UK until the end of March so who knows. However, when it is released I won't be purchasing one. |

Jaydub... you leave my rod outta this please
the ipad, just like the iphone is an over rated pile of rubbish...
what i dont understand with this one is... we still read books - people still print shed load of paper coz they cant read it, or dont like to read it on the screen...
visit waterstones... thay have had such gadgets on display for years.. and no one seems to buy them - where did apple do their research???
dont get me started on the iphone... (too late) that thing must be raking in bucket loads of money for apple... and why people would want to pay for it + expensive contracts is beyond me... i just dont get either of these two products
my phone is a Sony Ericsson c905... does all the bits and bobs i need - takes awesome photos, sync's with itunes, ical, entourage & my mobileme account... push mail etc... all for £20 a month with 600mins, unlimited texts & data... that would cost me 40+ with the iphone!
While im in rant mode... i have a mac laptop that is 2 years old now with adual core 2.4ghz processor... the apple processors have not really progressed (nor have they in pc laptops to that end) in that time - why apple couldnt have focused their efforts on delivering class leading computers is beyond me... i spose in time we will get the i7! intel processors... but ive not seen any news regarding this, anyone else???
sony centre lakey have a wicked touch screen pc running w7... looks good - shame about the 1.4k price tag!
happy days... anyone want to form a new community forum?

Wahey! I've got a bite...
You surprise me Matt - I really thought you'd be an iPhone person. For what it's worth though, I am hanging on to my Nokia N95 for the exact same reason. It's getting a bit old now, and with the plastic protective casing, looks a little chunky, but it does everything that I want it to. I did look at Android phones, but there's one thing they can't do yet, which I value, which is FM radio.
I agree with you - processor performance isn't really moving at such a rate that I feel compelled to upgrade. I've had my desktop processor for about two years now, probably the longest time between upgrades for me - yet still it runs everything I can throw at it.
I thought i7 laptops were out though? http://www.pcpro.co.uk/blogs/2009/09/18/intel-core-i7-for-laptops-first-review/
I saw one of the laptops with the swivel/touch screens in a business meeting a few weeks ago. It was a few years old I think (either that, or the guy had treated it like cr4p), but I do love the concept. I like the idea of touch screen input, but I can't bear the thought of not having a keyboard too.
Incidentally, Paul Ockendon did a review on entry mode speeds for touch and keypads on phones in PC Pro this month (March I think). Keypads came out fastest every time, probably not surprisingly.

what i meant was you dont see many laptops or desktops with the i7 inside... take a look round the dreaded pc word - most pcs are still using the old dual core or cheaper alternatives.
the review of the i7 is very impressive... cant wait to get one inside one of those hi-class apples

Agreed about the i7! Maybe they should make an iBelle? Reassuringly high class.
Thing about the i7s though, is that on first glance, they appear slow. It's the hyperboost or whatever it's called that sends them into overdrive. I can't help but wonder what Joe Public will make of that. E.g. a Core 2 Quad running at 3GHz, vs. an i7 running at 2.66GHz.
I guess it's almost the reverse of the Pentium 4 clock issue. I.e. when people boasted of their 3.6GHz P4 clock, and in reality, it was the same as an Athlon 2.2GHz or something...
