Oh wonderful ......
Orsett Show Ground yet again rent their site, contrary to statements they won't allow a repeat of the noise, pollution and harassment from this year's "Festival"
A music "Festival" to be held on 29 & 30 May 2010 ...........
"A music event professionally run by an event management company with 30 year's experience" (That's a quote).
Did I mention this company was formed 5 weeks ago.....?
Still, at least they're promising handsome contributions to the Orsett Village Sschool, Orsett Charities and Orsett in Bloom.

so far im not aware of any contributions from these guys, or anyone else for that matter, who have put up sponsorship for the school - and boy do we need it!
its quite easy for a company to say they have been planning events for x number of years... just makes you wonder why they need to changes names each year? Saying that my 'so soulful' brand has only just begun - but each of us in the group have more than 10 years experience putting events on... as there's three of us can we say we have over 30 years experience - somewhat misleading maybe but not a lie... however, we have no plans on changing our name on a yearly basis!
back to subject... as its a showground should we not be a little more tollerant of events, considering how few loud events go on here - it could be a lot worse! At least they are giving us lots of warning so have time to plan a nice day at the sea side!

Matt - I think the point is that this year, certain events at the showground flouted their licensing laws, and also maintained loud music into the small hours.
I, for one, do not have any issue with loud events going on throughout the day. And if they are permitted by the council, then I will put up with them during the night too. Lets face it - if the showground goes unused, it remains unprofitable - and might become the next site for housing applications?
But the idea of some festivals thinking they are special, and flouting their licenses does annoy me. And yes, I know it's not just the law breakers to blame - the law enforcers should enforce more too. If it's only an occasional event, then it shouldn't cost much for a police van to turn up and shut things down, surely?

They have noted a number of logged complaints and have spoken to the owners of the Show Ground, who have decided not to accept any more bookings from the people who rented it last Saturday.
They have also spoken to the Licencising Department who will be careful about any applications from the same people if they try to rent elsewhere in the Borough!
Send your emails in villagers and remember to cc our ward councillors: Mrevell@thurrock.gov.uk
Best of luck.

Trouble is, I can never actually find the footpath. I just end up walking in 'sort of' the direction of the Public Footpath arrow.

maybe a call to the thurrock license dept will jog their memories and prevent this group from doing it again this year?
If you all feel that strongly about it get a petition signed... and send it to the ward cllr - no amount of grumbling on here will be productive!
i feel rather hypocritical commenting on this subject, as every party ive ever done the client always wants ya to go on past closing time - but then it comes down to how your event impacts the local environment!
chandler how did you get your info as the noblefriends events page said "provisionally earmarked for the 31st of July" - are you talking about another event, or do you know a little more than us?

This is a new event. not the rabble that caused all the problems last year.
The organisers delivered a letter to our door explaining the event.
There is also a blue sign posted by thurrock liscensing, on a pole by the footpath entrance in Rectory rd.
SJW the footpath runs from entrance at the corner of Rectory rd & school lane, it is a straight line from there down to the sty. Do not stray from this line.

Just read a neighbour's mail drop about this (we didn't get one)
It is being run by a company called L&S Events and there is a name and contact number (mobile) on the letter.
Basically a 2-day music festival and it goes on about how they will have people directing traffic and a clear-up crew to clear up the mess afterwards.
No music is going to be outdoors (yeah..tents make for great soundproofing!) and will stop at 11pm.
It doesn't explicitly say so, but I'm guessing there will be a tented village on the showground or elsewhere.
Cheers

OK I'm back now
You've got the details right as it came from a flyer we received last night.
If you carry on and look up the company at Companies House you'll find it was newly incorporated (not change of name, I recall) 5 weeks ago, not 30 years as implied in the flyer.
I take exception to the patronising "we'll make a donation to local charities" as if that makes everything OK.
"Put Orsett on the map"............... "generate additional economical (sic) benefits for local businesses"
The Registered Office address of this company is in Randall Drive
Oh, and it's "look forward to" not "too"

Can someone scan this and post it somewhere please, so others can read it? There wasn't (and, I guess, is not likely to be) a drop on Bonners. Though it sounds like not all of central Orsett got it either.

And at a guess, yours is very often one small hour to another small hour - in less residential areas. Whereas the 'Noble Friends' was tame old 8pm to vicious little 4am (or maybe a bit earlier) - it's one hell of a difference!

Not very NOBLE, and certainly not FRIENDLY.
That organisation needs a name change. |
