Just to let you all know... the existing forum committee stood down at the recent AGM and did not stand for re-election.
If the forum didn’t exist Orsett would have not been on the list for a playground… The pound & lock up would probably have been demolished by now if it wasn't for the previous committee's dedication… The church clock would still be stuck at ten past twelve... The summer play bus, the nursery, the scouts, the cricket club, plus many many more groups of the village would not see the benefit of the small amount of funding offered to us. However little it does make a difference!
In the New Year nGage will be looking for a new committee… please don’t let the negative talk in forum meetings put you off as this negativity is such a small part of voluntary community work… just a small amount of time goes such a long way to make the community a better place... there are far more positives being part of the forum, its just sometimes we all focus on the negative!
Whats more, Orsett has in the region of £86000 of section 106 funding to be allocated to various village groups. Like the hospital (PCT), Education (Orsett Primary School), Highways and Horticulture & recreation… If the forum are not about to ensure funding goes to the right places, the council certainly wont do it for us!
Keep your eyes peeled for the next forum meeting announcement – it will be worth attending!
Please note ive just posted the ROSPA report for the playground / cricket club and a copy of the Post office consultation!

Matt,
I am just curious.
If the Community Forum delivers an invaluable service to the community and isn't, as you say, totally embroiled in negativity...Why has the entire committee resigned?
Cheers

we have all been here doing this for some time now, 2 years for me, and i know many of the team have been part of the committee for many many more years... its about time a new bunch from the village came on board!
Fresh eyes... new ideas...etc...
I know the chair has lots going on with the scouts... i've got a fair amount on with the school my djing and full time job... we can only do so much!
All it needs is an active group willing to hold a few meetings, make a few calls and a fair amount of determination! None of the team stood down because of the negative stuff - if that was the case many of the team would have given up years ago!
I think its only fair for new villagers to take the lead - considering im from chadwell
for the small amount of negative stuff (Awkward council workers) so much good comes of it... so there's much more positive than negative!

I responded to your request for new people in the Beast of Orsett thread, having completely missed this thread for some reason. Have now deleted the thread 'over there'.
Still not for me though, as I have far too much going on both at work and at home. Sorry.
However, now that some concrete opposition to the new bins system is coming along (it attracts wild beasts), I think you have advertised in a good place. I can just see Mike Revell out, just before the next elections, with his flaming torch, getting to the root of the problem.
